Planning a family vacation can be a costly endeavor, but it doesn’t have to be. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option that’s still fun and exciting for the whole family, consider a stay at Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Not only is this resort located in a beautiful area with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, but there are also ways to save money while still having a great time. Here are eight tips to help you save money during your stay.

  1. Take advantage of the Timber-rific Deals Package: By booking your stay on one of the Timber-rific Deals Package dates, you can save a significant amount of money. With this deal, suites start as low as $109 a night. These dates may require some flexibility in your travel plans, but the savings are well worth it. Be sure to check the available dates regularly, as new dates are added periodically. Since deal dates often fall outside of peak travel times, it’s likely that the resort’s facilities will be less busy during those times. This means you’ll have more space to enjoy the waterpark and other amenities without feeling crowded or rushed.
  2. Explore the hiking trails and other on-site activities: Timber Ridge is surrounded by beautiful hiking trails and kids’ activities at the lodge. Activities vary by season and include indoor rock climbing, trail rides, mini golf, pickleball, basketball, tennis, movies, arts & crafts, scavenger hunts, nerf battles, family games, bingo, build-a-buddy, ceramic painting, cookie decorating, trivia and more. These free or low-cost activities provide a great way to enjoy the outdoors (or indoors) with your family. Take in the beautiful scenery and enjoy some fresh air while you’re at it.
  3. Use the free shuttle to Grand Geneva Resort: The free shuttle to Grand Geneva provides access to additional activities and dining options. Take advantage of this free transportation to explore the property without having to pay for a rental car or valet tips. The Grand Cafe at Grand Geneva Resort is gorgeous and worth a splurge if you want to enjoy some delicious fare. We also enjoyed some ‘co-working’ time and coffee in Grand Geneva’s lobby lounge, which boasts a stunning view of the property, but I’d only suggest this for older kids.
  4. Bring simple-to-make or prepared meals for your in-suite kitchen: One of the best ways to save money on dining out is to take advantage of the in-suite kitchen. There is a fridge and freezer, and the cabinets are stocked with pots & pans, dishes, and silverware. While there is no oven, there is a stovetop, microwave, toaster, blender, and more available. Plus, there’s a dishwasher so clean-up is a breeze. (Our suite was missing salt and pepper; bring your own seasoning!)
  5. Enjoy the outdoor balcony in your suite: Take advantage of the outdoor balcony in your suite for some fresh air. Sit outside and enjoy the beautiful views while you relax and unwind. The fireplace is also a lovely place to sit nearby and cozy up with a good book.
  6. Bring board games or DVDs for entertainment in your room: Save money on entertainment by bringing along some board games or DVDs to watch before bedtime. This is a great way to enjoy some quality family time without spending a lot of money. Bonus advice: Avoid the arcade, unless you’re ok with blowing some fun money rather quickly.
  7. Make use of Moose Mountain Falls: The waterpark at Timber Ridge Lodge is a hit with kids and provides hours of entertainment. (4 waterpark passes come included with a one-bedroom suite, or 6 for a two-bedroom suite!) Make the most of this amenity and let your kids have a blast while getting worn out in the process. This is a great way to save money on expensive attractions outside of the resort.
  8. When planning your meals at Timber Ridge Lodge, it may be tempting to bring snacks or drinks to the waterpark to save money on dining out. However, it’s important to note that outside food and beverages are not allowed in the waterpark. To avoid any inconvenience, be sure to plan your meals accordingly.

By following these tips, you can enjoy a memorable family vacation at Timber Ridge Lodge without breaking the bank. From taking advantage of the Timber-Rific Deals Package to exploring the hiking trails, there are plenty of ways to have fun and save money. Plus, by using the in-suite kitchen and bringing along some entertainment options, you can save even more. And let’s not forget the waterpark – with your kids worn out from a day of splashing around, you’ll be glad you saved money on your stay.
